Earlier this year, it was announced that The Libertines would put on their own day (9 September) at Wheels & Fins Festival, an already established festival on Joss Bay Beach, Broadstairs, Kent.
Now details of who will be playing have come out, and they do not disappoint: Echo & The Bunnymen, Reverend & The Makers, Cabbage, Chas & Dave, Mic Righteous, Lock, and Zuzu are on the bill.
The Bunnymen are one of Pete & Carl’s favourite bands. Fronted by legendary frontman Ian McCulloch, they’ve songs that stand the test of time, and offer spine-tingling live shows.
In keeping with the British indie of the naughties era theme are Reverend & The Makers. Rapper Mic Righteous is a recent addition to The Libertines stage show, having connected with the band since their move to Margate. Chas & Dave have long been treasured by The Libertines, so no surprise there.
And Cabbage, Zuzu and Lock fly the flag for new bands and show who they’re backing for success.Meanwhile, The Libertines have positioned Tim Burgess’ indie pop-up stage, Tim Peaks, as the second stage. It will see performances from Deja Vega, Average Sex, Blackwaters, Autopilot, Meister and Delights.
Tim Burgess adds: "The Libertines love Tim Peaks and we love them. It was an honour to be asked by the boys to bring our travelling circus to the festival.
